This guide explains how to configure custom DNS servers on Android and iOS devices, which can be helpful for using services like BedrockConnect to connect to custom Minecraft Bedrock Edition servers.
Follow these steps to change your DNS server on Android:
Open the Settings app on your Android device.
Navigate to Network & Internet (or Connections or Wi-Fi, depending on your device).
Select Wi-Fi.
Tap and hold your currently connected Wi-Fi network, then choose Modify network or Manage network settings.
Tap Advanced options or Advanced settings.
Change IP settings from DHCP to Static.
Enter your preferred DNS server addresses into DNS 1 and DNS 2 (see "" below).
Tap Save.
Note: Menu names and locations may vary slightly depending on your Android version and manufacturer.
Follow these steps to change your DNS server on iOS:
Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
Select Wi-Fi.
Tap the i icon next to your active Wi-Fi connection.
Scroll down and select Configure DNS.
Change the setting from Automatic to Manual.
Remove any existing DNS entries by tapping the red minus icon (â).
Tap Save in the top-right corner.
For using BedrockConnect and other custom DNS services, the following DNS servers are recommended:
Google DNS
8.8.8.8
and 8.8.4.4
Cloudflare DNS
1.1.1.1
and 1.0.0.1
If you encounter issues after changing your DNS servers:
Verify you've entered the correct DNS addresses.
Restart your device to ensure settings take effect.
Temporarily revert DNS settings to automatic to check if the issue relates specifically to DNS changes.
Note: DNS changes apply only to the specific Wi-Fi network you have modified. If you connect to different networks or switch to mobile data, you may need to repeat these steps.
Tap Add Server and enter your desired DNS server (see "" below).
