How Does BedrockConnect Work?
BedrockConnect utilizes the open-source software "Gophertunnel," which is written in the "Go" programming language. We use this software as a native library for the app.
The detailed functionality: Gophertunnel provides all the essential functions we need and is always kept up to date. This allows us to operate our own local server on the smartphone. Essentially, it starts with the information "ServerIp:Port" and, if applicable, a mixed server pack.
Then, it functions like a normal server:
As a player, you join and are asked if you want to download the Resource Pack (Serverpack).
After downloading the Resource Pack and successfully joining the server, you are disconnected using a "Transfer Packet" and redirected to another server.
From the moment you are redirected with the Transfer Packet, you are outside BedrockConnect's influence.
It's important to emphasize that the app does not act as a type of proxy. We avoid this to prevent increased latency. Additionally, we did not want to fully rely on Gophertunnel as a client for processing.
